Horsetooth Mountain Fixed Anchor Replacement Approved

The NCCC is happy to announce that Larimer County Natural Resources has approved our Fixed Anchor Intitative at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space. The climbing history at Horsetooth Mountain has largely been unknown and undocumented over the past 30 years. Lots of different climbers have done different routes to gain the summit of the iconic granite dome. Over the course of the next year the NCCC will identify and replace any unsafe fixed anchors on Horsetooth Rock and Outer Space rock. At the completion of our anchor replacement we will publish a guidebook to the area covering all established routes. The Fixed Anchor Intiative is only for replacement of existing anchors. Installing anchors for new routes is not permitted at this time.

We will update our progress here and on Mountain Project.

Big thanks to Travis Rollins and Steve Gibson at Larimer County Natural Resources for working hard to make this project a reality.
