The NC3 has developed a variety of programs in order to accomplish our mission of "promoting and preserving climbing in Northern Colorado". Divided into four main areas of focus--stewardship, education, community, and access--our programs address the many diverse aspects of our sport in order to ensure that it remains a sustainable and beneficial passion, lifestyle and form of recreation. Be sure to check out our calendar below to see all of the upcoming events.
Our stewardship programs are designed to keep climbing areas clean and pristine. We love the crags we visit and are fortunate to have some of the best climbing in the world at our fingertips in Northern Colorado. Climbers certainly make impacts as a user group and our goal is to help reduce those negative effects by organizing regular stewardship projects. From simple trail days to wildly successful trash bashes like the Horsetooth Hang, we work on maintaining our climbing areas so trips to local crags are always magical and memorable.
We firmly believe that education is one of the most important elements of our organization. Our goal is to provide the Northern Colorado climbing community with a variety of educational resources and opportunities. From community driven guidebooks filled with the most up-to-date access info to local news and other happenings, we are the definitive source of reliable climbing related information in the Fort Collins area.
The climbing community is composed of countless unique individuals. From all walks of life, these people converge and share a passion that defines and shapes their perspective. From folks feeling the rush of getting to the top of their first climb, to professional athletes making a living with their passion, we warmly welcome climbers of all ages, abilities and style preferences. Our goal with social events and community development is to unite climbers of all kinds under one common interest to form a cohesive and unified group. While much of the climbing in Northern Colorado is found on public lands with open access, a number of areas are closed due to current management restrictions or private property conflicts. Over the last several years, we have developed excellent working relationships with many land management agencies and landowners, thereby enabling us to open positive dialogue on several closed climbing areas. Our vision is to have unrestricted access to all areas in Northern Colorado and we are dedicated to pursuing these long-term access objectives.
