The Narrows back when the road was first built. Eve's Cave is on the right edge of the photo, and you can just see the top of Last Turn Crag off in the distance.

Area: West of Rustic

December 16, 2014 - 8:17pm
The Poudre Canyon west of the town of Rustic becomes a very wide open valley chocked full of cliffs and boulders. This section hosts the BEST bouldering in the Fort Collins area and easily some of the best route potential in Northern Colorado. The scenery and setting are incredible and home to moose, mountain lions, bighorn sheep, beaver, and lots of other wildlife. If you haven't made the long drive up the canyon from Fort Collins...you probably should.

Here is a list of the major areas from downstream to upstream:
(mileage listed from Ted's Place)

Hatchery Rock - 38.3 miles
Bone Caves
Critical Mass Area
Pearl Area - 40 miles
Roaring Creek Area
The Bog - 41 miles
420 Boulders - 41.5 miles
Gandalf Area - 46.1 miles
Poudre Falls - 47 miles

Area: The Narrows

December 16, 2014 - 7:50pm
The Narrows is generally considered the portion of the canyon from Stove Prairie Road to The Narrows Campground. This section of the canyon is characterized by large, steep walls coming right down to the asphalt. People have been climbing here since the '70s, and the climbing history has been re-written time and time again.

The variety of climbing styles, quality of rock, and accessibility make this one of the best locations for rope climbing in the canyon.

Here is a list of the major areas from downstream to upstream:

- Electric Ocean
- Yankee Doodle Slab
- The Trough
- Eden area
- The Nod
- Eve's Cave
- Snake Eyes Wall
- Twilight Area
- Last Turn Crag
- The Beach
- Narrowslab

This is a great extension to No Crisis.

Place a long sling on the No Crisis anchor and launch into some very steep terrain. A tricky move getting right is followed by steep long moves all the way to the awesomely exposed anchor.

The best warm-up route at the Twilight Cave.

Begin with a short corner feature and continue on blocky/juggy terrain. Ends at the same anchor as No Crisis.

The 2nd best warm-up at the Twilight Cave. Start with a tricky slab move to gain the steeper rock. A long reach right then continue on a variety of holds and surprisingly pumpy movement to the chains.

Start with an awesome technical dihedral directly out of the Twilight cave. When the corner becomes a ramp move left to a series of tricky 5.12 climbing. Steep pumpy climbing leads through the blocky roof. After you've fully recovered on the ledge, launch into a strange sequence to clip the chains at the very top of the wall.

Route: Twilight (<span class='rateHueco'>V10</span> <span class='rateFont'>7C+</span>)

December 16, 2014 - 1:50pm
Sit start on the obvious low edge, then move up and slightly right on crimps to the undercling jug. Pull the crux moves on awesome holds, moving up and left to the lip and tricky finish. The stand start from the undercling goes at around V8 and is excellent as well.

Movement and rock quality are excellent...if it wasn't in a damp seepy cave it would easily be 4-stars.
